On July 13, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Roanoke Voyages "...an expedition formed by Sir Walter Raleigh and led by Phillip Amadas and Arthur Barlow to colonize North Carolina in the name of England."  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting a British ship under sail in 1584 cancelled from the city of issue (Manteo, NC) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The sepia cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a map of Roanoke Island, Sir Walter Raleigh, and a British sailing ship.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
