On September 18, 1955, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Ft. Ticonderoga. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Ticonderoga, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The green-toned cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a photo of the fort with a drawing of Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys, who seized the garrison from the British on the night of May 10, 1775.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
