On July 31, 1948, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the consolidation of New York City. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting the five buroughs, cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a photo Andrew H. Green, the Father of Consolidation, the Seal of Consolidation, and the skyline of Manhattan.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
