On November 20, 1953, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 300th Anniversary of New York City. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting the skyline of NYC in 1653 as well as 1953, cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a drawing of Peter Stuyvesant, Nieuw Amsterdam, incorporated as a city February 2, 1653, and the skyline of Manhattan in 1953.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
