On July 4, 1967, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Erie Canal, connecting Buffalo with Albany. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a canal boat, cancelled from the city of issue (Rome, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a photo of the Erie Canal as well as DeWitt Clinton, foremost advocate of the Canal.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
