On May 11, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Louisiana World Exposition held in New Orleans. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a Maximum Card with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (New Orleans) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) encompasses the entire card, hence the term Maximum Card for maximum artwork. The words, "First Day of Issue " are not printed on maximum cards so as not to interfere with the picture. Riverboats, Dixieland Bands, crawfish...all against the backdrop of the Mississippi River, there is no other city like New Orleans. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about the 184-day Exposition; we've made a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
