On July 11, 1998, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 400th Anniversary of the Settlement of the Southwest by the Spanish. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Espanola, NM) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a Southwest landscape, rendered in watercolors encompassing the entire envelope. The full-color stamp depicting an adobe building looks as if it is a part of the landscape.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
