On February 23, 1976, the USPS issued a set fo 50 stamps commemorating the 50 State Flags in the Bicentennial Year. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp with the State Flag of New Jersey cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows General Washington at Trenton, plus several facts about the State of New Jersey.
