On September 22, 1989, the United Nations issued a stamp in their Flag Series to honor the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp depicting the Flag of the Netherlands cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark showing the United Nations created to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the many facets of the Netherlands...from tulips to exquisite achitecture to windmills and skating on frozen canals. The producer of this cover has written a brief commentary about the Netherlands, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
