National Academy of Sciences......
On October 14, 1963, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences located in Washington DC, devoted to scientific research and achievements for the progress of mankind. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new 5-cents stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black and white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) depicts a photo of President Lincoln at the signing of the Academy Charter in 1863 as well as the Academy seal. This collectible, historic cover is a wonderful postal tribute to all those in the field of science.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
