On July 28, 1972, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate Mt. McKinley National Park in Alaska. At 20,320 feet, Mt. McKinley is the highest mountain in North America. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (McKinley Park, Alaska) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of seven older stamps, which were added along with the new one and then cancelled along with it on its first day of issue, make this a Combo. These older stamps feature other National Parks: The four stamps making up the series called Cape Hatteras National Seashore; Wolf Trap Farm in Virginia; City of Refuge in Hawaii; and, Old Faithful in Yellowstone.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a photo of Mt. McKinley. If you love our National Parks, you'll want this cover...it's a very historic piece of American Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity included***
