On August 7, 2006, the USPS issued a set of four stamps to commemorate four different American Motorcycles....a 1940 Indian, a 1918 Cleveland, a 1965 Harley-Davidson, and a c.1970 Chopper. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp for the c1970 Chopper cancelled from the city of issue (Sturgis, South Dakota - to mark the 66th anniversary of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Ralley) on the first day of issue captioned above. The Chopper depicted on the stamp is computer-generated in consultation with professional chopper builders. Note the special motorcycle postmark designed to cancel these stamps on their 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope created by a private company, not the USPS) features a biker on his chopper. It's printed on silk, the luster, lending an-almost three dimensional quality to the picture.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
