On May 19, 2005, the USPS issued a set of twelve stamps to honor MASTERWORKS OF MODERN AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Hancock Center in Chicago. The envelope has the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Las Vegas, Nevada) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Hancock Center with its distinctive weight-carrying, crisscrossing braces. Designed by engineer Fazlur Kahn and architect Bruce Graham from the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, "Big John" was built in 1970 and is the tallest multiuse building in the world.

Double matted in blue & white, its sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame.   ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short commentaary on this MASTER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE***
