On June 7, 1983, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the highest U.S. Military award, the Medal of Honor, sometimes called the Congressional Medal of Honor. Approved by Congress in 1863, this award is only given to those who perform the most extraordinary acts of heroism. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington, DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the medal with the US Flag and Soldiers in the background. If this medal is a part of your family's history, you'll want to have this piece of memorabilia to pass down to future generations.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short history of the medal***
