The Douglas B-26 Invader has had a long and illustrious career.  With close to 2,500 Invaders constructed during WWII, they proved to be the best ground attack and tactical bombers built in the US.  Powerful, armed to the teeth, and extremely fast, the Invader not only helped win the war for the Allies in WWII, but played an active part in defending America's interests in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Shown here is a Commemorative Cover, an envelope with the postmark of El Segundo, CA - where the B-26 was built, and the date of July 10, 1998, to commemorate the first flight of the B-26  on July 10, 1942. What a Commemorative Cover does is 'freeze' a time and place that a particular event happened.  This one tiny postmark tells a valuable story about the only aircraft to serve in three wars! The stamp, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Department of the US Air Force from 1947 to 1997, serves the purpose of supplying current postage, for, without, it, the post office would not affix a postmark.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color picture of an attacking Invader.  The company that produced this cover has written a brief commentary about this plane, which we've included.

Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  At Wall Art Collectibles, we always mat to standard frame sizes, allowing you to select the frame of your choice.
