Several years ago when Florida was experiencing a severe draught, Volunteer Firemen came to Disney's aid by fighting fires getting perilously close to the Disney Parks. In appreciation, Disney had huge posters made with this artwork - Mickey & the Fireman - featuring Mickey shaking hands with a fireman, who, in turn is tipping his helmet to Mickey. Disney then had the company's dignataries sign each poster and presented them to each man who helped contain the fires. The significance of the print is this: It is the first time Disney has portrayed Mickey looking 'up' at anyone other than Walt himself, and actually 'touching' anyone other than Walt. It's the ultimate tribute from Disney to the men & women who lay their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
It's joined by an uncancelled, collectible and historic 1948 stamp honoring Volunteer Firemen.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.
