On November 1, 1979, the USPS issued an airmail stamp to commemorate the upcoming 1980 Summer Olympic Games and the sport of the Men's High Jump. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Colorado Springs, CO) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an athlete ready to try and clear the bar. Jumping styles in this sport are quite varied...from the scissor-like approach to the belly roll, from the straddle to the Fosbury flop, the high jump is always a great spectator sport. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about the high jump. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of High Jumping Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus the Commentary***
