McQueen's Jupiter.... On July 28, 1993, the USPS issued five stamps to commemorate the "Iron Horse" of the late 1800's." Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover in the form of an envelope, with the stamp for McQueen's Jupiter, cancelled from the city of issue (Chama, New Mexico) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet
(artwork on the card) features an illustration of McQueen's Jupiter,
the Central Pacific locomotive which met the Union Pacific 119 at
Promontory, Utah. The caption under the picture reads, "Meeting No.
119 in Promontory, Utah, uniting the United States." The company that
produced this cover has also written a longer commentary printed on the back of the envelope, which we have copied and included for you.
