Manfred von Richthofen - 'The Red Baron'.....

On April 12, 1993, Micronesia issued its 2nd Issue in its Pioneers of Flight series.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Issue, an envelope with the stamp honoring WWI flying ace with 80 fallen aircraft to his credit - Manfred von Richthofen, known as The Red Baron.  The stamp is cancelled from the city of issue (Kolonia, Pohnpei) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the same picture as the stamp - von Richthofen and his plane - a Fokker DR.I triplane.  The company that produced this cover has also included a commentary on The Red Baron, which we've included.

Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
