On April 30, 1953, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting James Monroe, Robert R. Livingston, and Francois Barbe-Marbois, cancelled from the city of issue (St. Louis, MO) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features the Gateway Arch and small insets of James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson, and Robert R. Livingston.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
