Shown here is a unique Commemorative Cover with two cancellations from New York City...one from the last day day of the 20th Century (December 31, 1999) and the other from the first day of the 21st Century...the new Millennium (January 1, 2000.) The stamps serve as current postage, for without it, the post office would not affix a cancellation.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Earth with the year 1999 receding and the year 2000 in the forefront. It's printed on silk, the luster lending an-almost three dimensional quality to the picture.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame.
