Crown Hall - Illinois Institute of Technology......

set of four stamps celebrating twentieth century American
Architecture. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the stamp, commemorating the Illinois Institute of Technology designed by architect Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the

Hall in the background. Mies van der Rohe (a Director of the Illinois
Institute's school of architecture), whose philosophy "Less is more",
designed for a technological age. His personal favorite building is
depicted on the stamp - Crown Hall, part of a twenty building complex commissioned by the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1940.
