On April 14, 1982, the USPS issued a set of 50 stamps with the State Bird and State Flower of all 50 States. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting the State Bird (Robin) and State Flower (Apple Blossom) of Michigan, cancelled from the city of issue (Lansing, MI) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of three older stamps, which were cancelled along with the State Bird & Flower stamp make this 1st Day Cover a Combo. The stamps commemorate the State flag of Michigan (1976), the 100th Anniversary of the statehood of Michigan (1935), and, the 250th Anniversary of Detroit (1951.)
The full color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a beautiful Robin and Apple Blossoms against a backdrop of the map of Michigan.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
