On September 20, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the 300th Anniversary of the explorations of the Jesuit Missionary who explored the Wisconsin, Mississippi, and Illinois Rivers, Jacques Marquette.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting Marquette in an Indian canoe, cancelled from the city of issue (Sault Sainte Marie, MI) on the first day of issue captioned above.  The addition of three older stamps, which were cancelled along with the Marquette stamp make this 1st Day Cover a Combo.  The stamps commemorate the 300th Anniversary of Wisconsin Territory (1934), the 100th Anniversary of Michigan Statehood (1935), and the Northwest Territory Ordnance (1937.)

The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features Jacques Marquette.

Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
