On July 24, 1951, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the city of Detroit. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Detroit, MI) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, founder of the city of Detroit, the skyline of Detroit, and a short commentary about the Motor City.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
