On April 16, 1998, the USPS issued a stamp jointly with Mexico to commemorate Cinco de Mayo. May 5, 1862, 4000 Mexicans who had already declared their independence from Spain in 1810, fought and devastated the French troops at Puebla, Mexico, thereby ridding the country of foreign domination.  Shown here is a genuine Joint Issue - Dual Cancellation First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp from each country cancelled from the cities of issue (Washington, DC and Mexico City) on the first day of issue  and exact same date captioned above. Joint Issue - Dual Cancellation First Day Covers always have a grace period to give each country a chance to send its covers to the opposite country for the other country's stamp to be applied and cancelled on the first day.  This way, both postmarks will have the same cancellation date. Note the great Mexican cancellation depicting a map of Mexico.

The full-color watercolor cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a marguerita glass with native-dressed Mexicans and the Mexican flag inside. If you're of Mexican heritage, what a great way to have a "party on your wall."

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
