On June 13, 1987, the USPS issued a set of 50 stamps commemorating North American Wildlife. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting the American Lobster cancelled from the city of issue (the USPS Station set up in Toronto, Canada to coincide with the Canada Stamp Show) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of two other stamps - the Massachusetts State Bird (Black Capped Chickadee) and State Flower (Mayflower), and the distinctive Massachusetts State Flag, make this a Combo....an extra special first day cover. The two older stamps were added to the envelope along with the new one and then all three were cancelled on the 'birthday' of the Lobster Stamp.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features artwork of an inquisitive American Lobster by noted wildlife artist Dan Balke. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Lobster, which we've included.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
