On June 16, 1990, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or 'stamp' commemorating the Isaac Royall House in Medford, Massachusetts. One of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in Colonial America, it was originally built in the late 17th century by Governor John Winthrop, then rebuilt in the mid-18th century by Isaac Royall, Jr., a successful rum merchant. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, the postcard with the full-color imprint or 'stamp,' cancelled from the city of issue (Medford, MA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a front and rear view of this National Historic Landmark. The company that produced this cover has written a brief commentary about this house, which we've included.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
