On February 15, 1988, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Statehood of Maryland. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting a Maryland Skipjack with the city of Annapolis in the background, cancelled from the city of issue (Annapolis, MD) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of three older stamps which were cancelled along with the State Bicentennial Stamp on its 'birthday', make this 1st Day Cover a Combo - an extra special 1st Day Cover. The three older stamps are the 1948 Francis Scott Key stamp; the 1979 Baltimore Cathedral stamp; and, the 1979 John Paul Jones stamp.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features the Maryland State Flag and the State Capitol in Annapolis.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
