On February 15, 1988, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Statehood of Maryland. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting a Maryland Skipjack with the city of Annapolis in the background, cancelled from the city of issue (Annapolis, MD) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a an early sailor, the USS Constellation, and the State Seal. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about Maryland, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
