On June 1, 1995, the USPS issued a stamp to honor one of the most famous Hollywood actresses of all time...Marilyn Monroe. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with his stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Universal City, CA) on the first day of issue - her birthday, captioned above. The addition of the two older stamps, which were affixed to the envelope and then cancelled along with the new one on its first day of issue, make this a Combo...the whipped cream and cherry on top of a first day cover. The yellow stamp, issued in 1950, commemorates the Centennial of California Statehood, tying-in the fact that Marilyn was born in California. The purple stamp commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Motion Pictures and was issued in 1944.
The sepia cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Marilyn. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Movie and Postal Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity***
