It's hard to believe that Gone With the Wind was published in 1936, and only three years later became a Classic Movie with an extraordinary cast whose performances are forever etched on our memories. Gone With the Wind took a decade to write.  Her only novel, it won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

On June 30, 1986 (are you seeing the 50-year connection?), the USPS honored Margaret Mitchell with a stamp.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope cancelled from the city of issue (Atlanta) on the first day of issue captioned above.  If you are wondering why there is an extra stamp (the Rachel Carson stamp) also cancelled with the Mitchell stamp, it is because the Post Poffice will only cancel if there is current postage - the Mitchell stamp is only a One Cent Stamp.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Mitchell with Tara and her beloved Rhett & Scarlett in the background.  Collectible, historic, unaddressed, pristeen, this makes a great gift for the GWTW fan.

Double matted in green & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ****Certificate of Authenticity Included***
