On July 2, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Mallard Duck and Migratory Bird & Hunting Conservation. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Des Moines, Iowa) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal, as well as hunting memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) is printed on silk, surrounded by gold embossing and features a spectacular pair of Mallards on a lake surrounded by tall grasses and cattails.
Double matted in light blue & Williamsburg blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
