On February 23, 1976, the USPS issued a set fo 50 stamps commemorating the 50 State Flags in the Bicentennial Year. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp with the State Flag of Maine cancelled from the city of issue (Augusta, ME) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a statue of William King, statesman, Governor, and leader of Maine's separation from Massachusetts.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
