On January 6, 1994, the USPS issued a set of five stamps commemorating the Winter Olympic Games. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for the Luge cancelled from the city of issue (Salt Lake City, UT) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color, eye-popping cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a one-man luge hurtling down the track at break-neck speed. The picture is printed on silk, the colors having a luster that makes the picture look almost 3-dimensional. This is the only stamp the US has issued for luge, making this cover a particularly collectible piece of memorabilia for this sport.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
