For each Lord of the Rings Movie, the country of New Zealand produced a different set of stamps. This is the Wall Art Collectibles' exclusive version of the Trilogy....a collectible, historic piece of postal and LOR memorabilia from each movie, combined to form a unique piece of matted art.
At the top is a Souvenir Sheet of Frodo in Rivendell - a souvenir sheet is, this case, one stamp surrounded by extra artwork, meant to be collected and kept intact. Issued in 2001, this represents the first movie, Fellowship of the Ring.
The middle piece is truly spectacular. It's a genuine First Day Cover whose cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Eowyn, Lady of Rohan. The stamp of The Easterlings is the entire souvenir sheet. Cancelled from the city of issue (Wanganui) on the first day of issue (December 4, 2002), this highly collectible piece commemorates the second movie, The Two Towers.
The final movie, The Return of the King, is represented by another First Day Cover, this time in the form of a Maxi Card featuring Legolas and his stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Wanganui) on the first day of issue (November 5, 2003.)
