Buchanan's No. 999....

On July 28, 1993, the USPS issued five stamps to commemorate the "Iron Horse" of the late 1800's.Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover in the form of an envelope, with the stamp for Buchanan's No. 999, cancelled from the city of issue (Chama, New Mexico) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the card) features an illustration of Buchanan's No. 999, the elegant locomotive proclaimed the 'Empire State Express' of the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad.  The caption under the picture reads,  "Immortalized in story and song, inspiring cherished children's toys."  The company that produced this cover has also written a longer commentary printed on the back of the envelope, which we have copied and included for you.

Double matted in green & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.   ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
