In 1959, the USPS issued several stamps to commemorate the 150 Anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. One of these celebrated his address to the Cooper Union in New York City on February 27, 1860. "Let us have faith that right makes might and in that faith, let us to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it!" Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue, February 27, 1959.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the statue of Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial as well as the exterior of the Memorial. Note the special cancellation created for this stamp.
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
