On July 13, 1982, the USPS issued a stamp to honor America's Libraries.  From the first subscription library founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1731, to the first free library established in Peterborough, New Hampshire in 1833, America's libraries have become the storehouse of national and world memory.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Philadelphia) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a librarian, books, computer, and one of the world-famous lions greeting visitors to the New York Public Library. Collectible, historic, and unaddressed, this piece of postal and library memorabilia will make a great gift for any Librarian.  The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the history of American libraries; we've included a copy.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  Remember that at Wall Art Collectibles we size our mat to only fit standard frame sizes allowing you to purchase the frame of your choice.        ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY PLUS COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
