The painting of THE LAST MEETING hangs in the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia. It depicts the last time the two most famous generals of the South were together....at the small Virginia town of Chancellorsville. Although a Confederate victory, the battle cost Robert E. Lee his right-hand man, Stonewall Jackson.
The print of this famous painting is shown with 3 Historical, Collectible, Uncancelled Stamps. The oldest is a 1937 issue and is the only US Stamp depicting just Lee & Jackson (between them is Stratford Hall, Lee's ancestral home.) The other two stamps commemorate the United Confederate Veterans (issued in 1951), and the other commemorates the Stone Mountain Memorial (issued in 1970 showing Lee, Jackson & Jefferson Davis.)
If there is a Civil War Enthusiast in your life, this is a piece that is sure to please. Double Matted in Confederate Gray and Gold it's sized to fit a standard 11 x 14 frame.
