LEE DE FOREST Audion Tube 1st Day Issue Postal Cover....

On July 10, 1973, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Progress in Electronics.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Issue Postal Cover, an envelope with the stamp commemorating one of the Fathers of Electronics - Lee De Forest, cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.  The stamp shows two Audion Tubes used to transmit the human voice from the US to France in 1915.

The black and white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Lee De Forest and the Audion Tube with the caption,  "Lee De Forest 1873-1961 'Father of Radio' Inventor of the Audion Tube."

Double matted in blue & white, this item is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
