On August 28, 1987, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate The Judicial Branch, created in Article III of the U.S. Constitution. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Washington DC) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features delegates from varied backgrounds - judge, scholar, soldier, and farmer - to the Philadelphia Convention. The producer of this cover has also written a brief history of the Judicial Branch, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY plus COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
