On January 7, 2003, ten years after his death, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the first black justice of the US Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Washington DC) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The full-color CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a watercolor portrait of Marshall in front of the Supreme Court building. This is a collectible, historic piece of Black Heritage and legal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
