On February 1, 2002, the USPS issued a stamp to honor poet, lyric writer, author Langston Hughes. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (New York City) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The full-color CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait printed on silk of Hughes, a major influence in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920's. This is a collectible, historic piece of Black Heritage memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
