Albert Bierstadt... On August 14, 2008, the USPS issued a stamp to honor German-American artist Albert Bierstadt, known for his large landscape paintings of the American West. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting his 1864 painting titled "Valley of the Yosemite", cancelled from the city of issue (Hartford, CT) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet
(artwork on the envelope) shows a black and white portrait of Bierstadt
superimposed over one of his paintings. His extraordinary romantic
depiction of light is called luminism. Historic, collectible, this is one of several covers celebrating art from the United States and around the world offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in green & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
