Louise McPhetridge Thaden set countless aviation records, helped found the International Organization of Women Pilots, and became known as the "girl who beat the guys" by winning the Bendix Transcontinental Air Race, establishing a new transcontinental speed record for women. Shown here is a Commemorative Cover to celebrate her induction into the International Aerospace Hall of Fame on April 17, 1999, the date "frozen" on the cover.

On a Commemorative Cover, the stamp is immaterial; it's only there because the Post Office will not cancel unless there is current postage.  On this cover an airmail Wright Brothers stamp issued in 1978 was used as well as the USAF airmail stamp from 1957. The postmark is from Bentonville, Arkansas, Thadens place of birth.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a  portrait of Louise McPhetridge Thaden.  The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about Thaden, which we, in turn, have included.

Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus Commentary Included***
