LON CHANEY Hirschfeld Stamp 1st Day Cover LON CHENEY Postal Stamp....

On April 27, 1994, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps to commemorate Stars of the Silent Screen. One of these was the SILENT SCREEN'S "MAN OF A THOUSAND FACES"....Lon Chaney. The stamp features the artwork of noted cartoonist, Al Hirschfeld.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Hirschfeld Stamp cancelled from the city of issue (San Francisco, Ca.) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a movie poster from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1923) in which Cheney can be seen wearing a crown.  The company that produced this cover has also written an brief commentary about Cheney's career - we've included a copy.  Collectible, historic, this cover is a piece of early movie and postal memorabilia.

Double matted in black and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
