Literacy.... On March 22, 1990, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard to call attention to Literacy. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover,
a postcard with the imprint depicting a globe sitting atop an open book
with the words "The world is an open book," cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black and white cachet (artwork
on the envelope) features the Space Shuttle circling the earth as well
as two children sitting in a chair reading and a drawing of a personal
computer, the screen displaying the words, "Literacy: a stronger
future, a better world." Collectible, historic, and unaddressed, this is a great piece of postal and library-education memorabilia that makes a great gift for a librarian, teacher, or anyone involved in a literacy program.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. Remember that at Wall Art Collectibles we size our mat to only fit standard frame sizes allowing you to purchase the frame of your choice. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
