LIBERTY HYDE BAILEY Garden Clubs 1st Day Cover....

On March 15, 1958, the USPS issued a stamp honoring the Garden & Horticultural Clubs of America and the man who pioneered Horticultural Research in the US...Liberty Hyde Bailey.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Ithaca, NY - where Bailey served as director of the College of Agriculture at Cornell University) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a photo of Bailey with a facsimile of his signature, and the words,  "Educator-Horticulturalist-Author 1858-1958.  Above are three organizations that authorized this cover - the American Horticulture Council, Inc., the National Council of State Garden Clubs, and, the Liberty Hyde Bailey Hortorium at Cornell University - also a part of the postmark.

Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
