On April 11, 1962, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Charles Evans Hughes on the 100th anniversary of his birth. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Washington DC) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The black & white CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Hughes and the Court over which he presided. This is a collectible, historic piece of Law memorabilia.
